The Mngwa is a terrestrial creature that said to live in the African plains of Tanzania. It is investigated in the episode "Ghosts of Haboro/Mngwa of Tanzania".

Appearance[]

Legend says that it has a gray fur which serves as great camouflage for this nocturnal creature. It is said to weigh more than 400 pounds and has powerful jaws, razor sharp claws and massive teeth like a saber-toothed cat.

Sightings[]

In Frank W. Lane's 1954 issue of Nature Parade, Patrick Bowen, a hunter who tracked the Mngwa at one time, remarked that the animal's tracks were like those of the leopard but much larger. The Mngwa was also described to have brindled fur that was visibly different from that of a leopard. Lane believed that the attacks reported in the 19th century by the Chimiset, associated with the Nandi Bear, might actually have been attacks by the Mngwa. [1]

Explanation[]

The tribes people could be seeing an abnormally large lion or a discolored one. The Mngwa may existed many years ago but did not survived and became extinct.
